Recently, the ambush of NYPD police officers was perpetrated by a Black male resulting in the death of two police officers. The history of ambushing police has a long history of being committed by extremist. Many of the extremist views are birthed in schools that perpetuate a tradition of classroom racism (Pertcrism).

The lone gunman who facilitated the ambush of NYPD police officers had a troublesome past which contributed to his extremism. According to Huntington Post, Ismaaiyl Brinsley had a long criminal record, a hatred for police and the government and an apparent history of mental instability that included an attempt to hang himself a year ago.

The hatred that Black youths develop for police officers begins in the classroom due to the racism that exist in schools and how schools use police officers to reinforce school authority.

The racism against Black students begins in preschool. According to the United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, Black preschool children represent 18% of school enrollment while representing 48% of the out of school suspensions. White preschool students represent 43% of school enrollment while representing 26% of the out of school suspensions. The same pattern continues for Black students.

Black students are over disciplined when compared to White students as they progress through school. Blacks are three times more likely to be suspended from school when compared to Whites. The average quantity of Whites who are either suspended or expelled is 5%, while the average for Black students is 16%.

Due to the racism against Blacks by White female teachers in the classrooms, cops begin an interaction process that leads many Black students to hate and despise cops which can lead to interactions such as the ambush of NYPD police officers.

When students are deemed a legal challenge for schools, the first agency that a school administrator will call is the police. The outcome of the police interaction is devastating for Black students. Black students represent 16% of the student population while representing 27% of the students referred to law enforcement and 31% of who are subject to school related arrest. White students represent 51% of the student population while representing 41% of the students referred to law enforcement and 39% who are subject to school related arrest.

It is no wonder why so many Black male youths are involved in confrontations with White cops. The Black student opposition to Whites begins in the classroom against White female teachers. The end result is Black hatred for cops which can result in such incidents as the ambush of NYPD officers.

But is does not stop there. Many White students who are privileged by the racism against Blacks can also develop hatred towards cops that can lead to such events as the ambush of NYPD police officers.

In a recent ambush of two police officers, two alleged White supremacist ambushed two local police officers and several civilians. According to the Las Vegas Sun, police investigators found swastika symbols in their apartment. Neighbors told the authorities that the couple voiced their racist anti-government views and boasted about their gun collection.

Each White supremacist is a product of our educational system. At one time in their lives they sat in a classroom. They either witnessed and benefited from the racial attacks on Blacks or benefited from the lack of teacher cultural sensitivity to teach and demonstrate to White children to respect people from all ethnicities. These are the White students who take racism to an extreme, believe that they are above all races, and participate in interactions such as the NYPD ambush of police officers and in their case it was the ambush of police officers in Las Vegas.

While the ambush of NYPD police officers has resulted in police stations beefing up security and placing police on alert, they must implement strategies that address the root cause of the problem. The root of the problem is racism in the classroom. The only way to eliminate interactions such as the ambush of NYPD police officers is to eliminate classroom racism (Elcloomism) which involves promoting positive racial teacher student classroom relationships (Properateasclaships).

  1. Where do the PARENTS of all students regardless of race fit into this????? Children often emulate what they see in the home . To insinuate that teachers are somehow responsible for how a child turns out is irresponsible at best. They play a role, yes however, PARENTS play a larger role and should be held accountable as we’ll.
